Veterans Law Attorney

Military Veteran advocating for fellow Veterans and their families before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

About James

James is a veterans law attorney and former Infantry officer focused on representing our nation's veterans and their families before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. James is also a Major in the United States Army Reserves where he serves as an Adjunct Professor for the National Security Law Department at The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School (TJAGLCS). Prior to joining the faculty, James served on Active Duty as the Chief of Criminal Law at the 11th Airborne Division in Anchorage, Alaska and previously as the Deputy Regiment Judge Advocate for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

James is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, William & Mary Law School, and the US Army Ranger School with deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan.

James is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, as well as in the State of New York.

As a Veteran who is married to someone who also served in the Army, James believes you have earned the benefits you are entitled to, often at great sacrifice by you and your family. That is why he will never charge you for his legal services, nor will he take a portion of any backpay you may be entitled to. Instead, James will only be compensated for his services from the VA, not the veteran, if he is first successful in getting your case remanded and then the federal government agrees to directly reimburse his time, pursuant to the Equal Access to Justice Act (EAJA).

Learn more here about how EAJA can help you obtain the legal representation you deserve.

The Five-Step Process...

Step 1: Call for a FREE consultation and analysis of your case.
Step 2: Formalize client agreement authorizing the Law Office of James R. Booth to advocate on your behalf.
Step 3: James will conduct an exhaustive review of the Record Before the Agency, which includes all documents used by the VA to decide your case, and dispute any errors or omissions that may have occurred.
Step 4: Next, James will represent you during the Rule 33 conference, a mediation process designed to resolve errors hastily and efficiently in order to remand your case back to the VA as quickly as possible.
Step 5: If the errors in your case are not resolved through mediation, James will file formal Appellant's Briefs with the CAVC, arguing on your behalf for the benefits you deserve.

"My wife and I are extremely satisfied with the outcome of our case. You gave us a fighting chance to do better for ourselves and our family."
